The Department of Work Environment had a long and productive relationship with the Institute which involve both faculty and researchers. This included the major research program in Viet Nam and a very talented cadre of post doctoral fellows.
UMass Lowell – Liberty Mutual Postdoctoral Fellows
The Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety initiated a postdoctoral training program with the Department of Work Environment at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2005. The program ran until 2017 and there were six postdoctoral fellows, each serving for about two years.
The post-doctoral fellows greatly strengthened collaborations between LMRIS and the Department of Work Environment. Each of the fellows conducted research in occupational injury etiology and prevention, working on one or a limited number of specific research projects in injury research. The projects were chosen by the fellow, in consultation with mentors in the Department of Work Environment and with colleagues at LMRIS with the objective of co-authored publication in appropriate peer reviewed journals. The Work Environment faculty and staff are very proud of the work that the fellows have accomplished, and grateful that LMRIS gave us the opportunity to help prepare these outstanding researchers.
The fellows and their work are briefly summarized below.
