Founded 2006 the Center for Physical Ergonomics was directed first by Dr Nils Fallentin and later, by Dr Jeff Schiffman .
CPE embraced the legacy activities but rapidly expanded the breadth of research in it’s portfolio. The Center investigated the causes and mechanisms of workplace injuries and illnesses with an emphasis on musculoskeletal disorders. CPE research scientists investigated the physical demands and human capacities associated with various job tasks. Findings from laboratory and field studies in biomechanics, human-machine systems, repetitive work, tribology, and work physiology are used to develop interventions and job safety enhancements.
